South Staffs Bonsai Society next meeting will be this Wednesday evening, the 16th October, commencing at 7.30 p.m.

This month we have a guest speaker, Ian Homer from Walsal Bonsai school nursery and pottery, who will be covering issues with young material and developing them. Preparing for winter and Protecting pots as well as trees!

Ian will also be taking Pot commissions, there will be accent and Shohin pots on sale… as well as a £20 discount on Winter Pottery Workshops, where they can even build their own pots.

A few root over rock bonsai trees at our club meeting last week. @southstaffsbonsai @rootoverrock

Root over Rock Trident Maple. Approx. age 70+. Acquired from a specialist Dutch Bonsai nursery in 1988 as an established specimen with the roots already firmly attached to the rock. In development the
tree would have been secured to the rock, the roots tied firmly in place and then planted so that the rock was covered with soil. Over subsequent years the roots
would have been exposed gradually to the level you can see today. @southstaffsbonsai

SATSUKI AZALEA
A type of Azalea extensively cultivated and hybridized in Japan. A native of the
mountains. Satsuki azaleas have a diverse range of flower forms and colour patterns with multiple patterns often appearing on a single plant. Satsuki bloom from May to June; the name “Satsuki” in Japanese is reference to their blooming period; the fifth month of the Asian lunar calendar. @southstaffsbonsai #satsukiazalea
