If you are interested in bonsai but have never been to a club before, South Staffs Bonsai Society is a friendly place to start. Whether you own one tree, a growing collection, or you are simply curious about the hobby, you will be made welcome.
What happens at a club night?
Our meetings are practical and relaxed. Members bring trees to work on, discuss styling ideas, ask questions and share experience. There is a wide range of knowledge in the room, so beginners can get straightforward help while more experienced enthusiasts can exchange ideas and techniques.
Bring a bonsai or a tree you are developing if you have one. If you do not own a tree yet, come along anyway. Seeing other members work and talking through the basics is one of the best ways to learn.
Your first month is free
We want new visitors to have time to experience the club before deciding whether membership is for them. Your first month with South Staffs Bonsai Society is free, so you can meet the members, see how the evenings work and discover what the society can offer.
When and where we meet
Club meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month from 7:30pm to 10:00pm at Newman Community Centre. Our programme includes hands-on club nights, demonstrations, visiting bonsai professionals, workshops and society events throughout the year.
A society with experience
South Staffs Bonsai Society has been bringing bonsai enthusiasts together since 1988. The society has a long history of exhibitions and award-winning displays, while remaining a friendly club where people can learn at their own pace.
Come along and meet us
Bonsai is much easier to learn when you can see techniques being used and ask questions in person. Come to a club night, bring a tree if you have one, and meet people who enjoy bonsai as much as you do.
We look forward to welcoming you to South Staffs Bonsai Society.
